Referring a patient

To make a referral to Strathcarron services, use the form available to download at the bottom of this page. Referrals are welcomed from any clinical staff in consultation with the GP or Hospital Consultant, and in agreement with the patient. Depending on the reason for referral, an appropriate member of the Hospice team will make contact with the patient and referrer to ensure appropriate and timely support. If the referral is urgent, it is best to speak directly to our medical team to ensure a prompt response.

Palliative Care Handbook

This handbook, (2012 version) which has been revised by Dr Fiona Downs, Consultant in Palliative Medicine and members of the Local MCN, provides local guidance on Symptom Control, Co-ordination of Care and Care of the Dying. It will be available as a link here as soon as it becomes available.

Telephone Advice Service

Telephone advice is available 24 hours a day from our specialist team. In some cases the nurses working in the In-patient Unit will be able to help you. If the problem requires medical advice your call will be directed to a Hopsice Physician or Consultant in Palliative Medicine. The telephone number is 01324 826222
